Filipino American History Month

Filipino Americans are the second-largest Asian American group in the nation and the third-largest ethnic group in California, after Latinas/os and African Americans. The celebration of Filipino American History Month in October commemorates the first recorded presence of Filipinos in the continental United States, which occurred on October 18, 1587, when “Luzones Indios” came ashore from the Spanish galleon Nuestra Senora de Esperanza and landed at what is now Morro Bay, California. AEF Welcomes Our New Arts Program Coordinator

I recently joined the AEF team and am excited to take on the role of Arts Program Coordinator! I first connected with AEF last fall through their enrichment program, teaching after school art classes at Love and Edison Elementary. Supporting the arts and public education is near and dear to my heart . I’m an AUSD parent, artist and arts educator. I was a lead teacher at a preschool in San Francisco for over a decade before starting a children’s art program called The Little Studio.

At AEF, we believe that youth sports are about much more than developing athletic skills. While our middle school sports programs give students the opportunity to grow as athletes, they also provide an important space to develop confidence, resilience, self-awareness, communication, and the ability to navigate challenges – skills that will serve them well both on and off the court.

Ready for a New School Year with School Supplies

On August 11 2026, Alameda Education Foundation (AEF) arrived at Alameda Point Collaborative to distribute new backpacks and school supplies to students. And students were pretty excited to see us!

Every year, AEF’s school supply drive ensures that all AUSD students are equipped for success on day one of school. We provide approximately 1,000 backpacks and schools supply kits to students at AUSD schools receiving Title I funding, such as Love Elementary,

Fall Enrichment Classes – Registration is Now Open!

Our After School Enrichment program provides enjoyable and educational classes that students love! With small class sizes, we focus on helping students discover new skills while staying active, engaged, and having a great time. These enrichment classes welcome both AUSD and charter school students and include a variety of exciting options like Pickleball, Magic, Chess, STEM, Coding, Art, Carpentry, and this year’s new offerings: Ceramics, Chinese and Hindi!
